Choosing The Right Domain
To make your website and company more credible you should have your own domain.
- It is important to choose a name that is relevant and short, some registrars allow you to register a domain with up to 63 characters, ideally you'll want a domain with less 7 characters.
- As a general rule of thumb try to use a .com suffix, it is one of the earliest extensions so shows that your business has been around for a while and has a strong web presence.
- Once you have decided on a name, register the domain as soon as possible, there's no need not to and you could easily find that it disappears quickly. It's also worth registering the same name with different extensions, like .co.uk or .net, to minimise the number of customers arriving at the wrong site or worse, competition's websites.
- Ask other people what they think of the name you've chosen, make sure it's easy to remember, spell and understand.
